Working Individually

Joanna offers clinics, private lessons, courses and coaching for anyone keen to improve, as well as remedial training for horse and rider combinations.

Joanna is a registered British Horse Society Instructor, British Eventing and British Dressage Accredited Trainer.

Joanna also offers Developing the Fear-Less Horse lecture/demos, courses, private lessons, using Effective Training techniques and strategies to produce horses (and humans!) that remain calm and confident in any situation – from ground work to ridden work.

Roger is a hunting farmer and FEI Steward who is the ‘horseman’ and offers help with problems such as fear of start boxes, loading etc. Roger is also the expert on horse breeding and young stock handling.

Each prefer to work ‘one to one’ but can be persuaded to teach small groups if necessary. Schooling livery is sometimes available for one or two horses at a time.

Roger and Joanna have use of a 6-box private yard and use of excellent farm facilities for dressage, jumping, remedial training, or ground work here in Somerset, not far from Junction 24 /25 of the M5, alternatively they can be persuaded to travel to you ­ (for a minimum 4 hours/horses)

Private lessons, clinics, workshops and courses are available at the farm for riders of any standard or age; from the most basic to advanced riders who are keen to improve…hobby or professional riders, competitive or not, ponies or horses, green or experienced, pre-training or re-training, groundwork, flatwork, jumping or dressage. Joanna just loves teaching and coaching– and offers very good value for money!  Gift vouchers are available if you would like to treat someone.

If you wish to join in with others, there are clinics and courses offered regularly with plenty of spaces, or you can organise your own. Many weekday dates are available. Weekends do get booked up early! We have excellent farm facilities B&B available, a day or two of intensive one to one or shared tuition in a friendly atmosphere makes a great learning experience – or even a working holiday! We can teach a maximum of 6 people per day. Average cost 2 days all-inclusive from only £200 per person – great value, come along and join us. A 50% deposit secures a place.

Anyone can come and learn with us – riders/handlers of any stage, age or ability; Ground work, Safe handling. Flat work, Jumping, Show-jumping, Cross-country, Dressage Prelim to Grand Prix, Eventers Pre-Intro to World Class! Pre-training, Youngsters, Remedial schooling, problem solving, Competition/hunting/hacking preparation. Starting and Backing. etc

Sp00kbusting - Developing the Fearless Horse or Pony- and Rider!

Pitched to meet the needs of the audience these can be any length from 20–180 minutes and are informative and fun, covering topics from bomb-proofing competitive horses to safe stable manners and overcoming dressage worries, from crowd-proofing to children’s ponies, from water jumps to ditches – and plenty of sp00kbusting. 

Lecture Demos

This is an opportunity to learn highly effective leadership and training skills, useful for anyone who is involved with horses – or humans - in any sphere – riders, handlers, trainers, students, teachers, RDA, Farriers, vets, parents, grandparents, coach’s, supporters  - and children too - everyone welcome!

The aim of the lecture demo is to show how you can train your horse or pony to become safe and rideable. Each of the lecture demos will include lots of learning opportunities for those willing to try an alternative approach - moving on from the old aggressive methods of using punishment to train to more effective training through good communication and leadership – being the good boss!

The demo will be interactive with the audience invited to participate in the training, - learning to use ‘advance and retreat’ techniques effectively - possibly Spookbusting by clapping and moving around, helping educate the horses to remain calm and confident in every situation. See how the rider/handler also gains confidence and becomes a better pilot - and how you can do this too!
